Blackberry and strawberry one pot French toast

  • butter
  • 8 slices bread
  • 200 g blackberries
  • 7 strawberries
  • 350 ml/12fl oz whole milk
  • 50 ml/2fl oz double cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 25 g/1oz brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnnamon


  • Grease an oven proof dish with the butter.
  • Butter the bread and cut into triangles.
  • Layer half the triangles of bread onto the oven proof dish.
  • Add the blackberries and chopped up strawberries and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Add more triangles of bread on the top.
  • Whisk together the eggs, cream and milk and pour over the bread.
  • Leave to soak for about ten minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 180C/355F/Gas 4.
  • Cook in the oven for 35 - 40 minutes until the egg mixture has set and the top is golden.
