Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
Add the water, orange juice and butter and knead into a dough.
Place the dough in the fridge, wrapped in cling film, to rest for thirty minutes.
Grate the cheese into a bowl.
Finely chop or grate the onion and add it to the cheese along with the sugar. Mix well.
Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F Gas Mark 6 and line a baking sheet with baking parchment.
Roll out the dough until it is a couple of millimetres thick.
Use a round cutter to cut out circles in the dough, add some cheese mixture to the centre and fold the circle in half and press together.
Brush each of the finished empanadas with beaten egg
Cook in the oven for 10-15 minutes until golden
