Romantic Sausage Recipes from Debbie & Andrew’s
Why not spoil your loved one with these romantic sausage recipes from Debbie & Andrew’s. They will love these special treats.
It is nearly Valentine’s Day, a perfect opportunity to think up some romantic recipes to serve up for your other half. If you haven’t managed to book at table at a restaurant why not set the table for two and cook up something nice. A few candles, possibly a scented one, will add to the mood.
Recently I have been trying out some romantic sausage recipes from Debbie & Andrew’s. They make premium sausages which have plenty of taste, perfect for creating a valentines meal.
Perfectly Paired Pies
When I looked at the recipes I knew I had to try the perfectly paired pies. Both my son and husband love sausages and love pies, so the combination of both was ideal. The pies combine Debbie & Andrew’s perfect pork sausages with leek and apple in a creamy apple mustard sauce. The original recipe makes lots of little pies in small pots.

When I recreated the recipe I made two smaller pies and added a heart shaped design on the top as it was Valentine’s Day. The pies were really easy to make, although it does take a little time. Basically you fry up apples, leeks and sausages in a pan until they are cooked. You then add some flour, followed by some cider. Once the cider has reduced you add whole grain mustard and cream and cook until the sauce is thick. This pie filling is used to fill the dishes and a pastry lid is put on top. Cook in the oven until brown and serve. The original recipe added pumpkin seeds to the pastry topping, I totally forgot to add these but it still tasted lovely.
The pie is quite filling so you only need to serve vegetables with it. If you have a hearty appetite you could serve mash with it as well. You could also prepare the filling in advance and just pop it in the oven with the pastry on top when you wanted to serve it, making it an easy do ahead dinner. Both my husband and son loved the pie and I will be making it again.
