Two Tasty and Quick Jacket Potato Toppings
These two tasty and quick jacket potato toppings are ready in less than five minutes. Eat them for a delicious and filling lunch or snack.
Baked potatoes are the ultimate in comfort food. There is a magic that happens when you bake a potato. It comes out of the oven hot and steaming whilst being soft and fluffy and delicious.
Perfect for a filling lunch, a jacket potato is high in fibre. A large baked potato contains only around 200 calories so ideal if you are watching your weight. Be careful what you top them with. Look for low fat toppings.
The problem with making jacket potatoes is they take a while to make in the oven. It takes a lot of cooking to transform them into a comforting fluffy meal. When you live a busy life and go out to work you need a meal that will be ready quickly in the evening. Baking a potato is not feasible unless you want to wait a long time to eat. Baked potatoes are left to slow weekends when there is time to cook and enjoy a meal.
If you want a baked potato for a quick lunch or as part of your evening meal there is a solution. Cook McCain Ready Baked Jacket Potatoes in five minutes in the microwave. McCain take British potatoes, drizzles them with sunflower oil and oven bakes them slowly. The potatoes are then frozen. This retains the oven baked taste.
When you want a jacket potato just pop them in the microwave and you have five minutes to create a tasty topping. They taste much better than normal microwaved potatoes with light and fluffy insides.
So what do you put on a baked potato? The possibilities are endless. Bacon, chicken, cheese, just have a look in your fridge and get inspired. These two quick and tasty jacket potato recipes are ones my family love. If you are looking for other quick and easy baked potato toppings McCain has a great range of ideas over on their lunchinfive YouTube channel.
Two Tasty and Quick Jacket Potato Toppings
Hawaiian jacket potato topping
The first topping I came up uses pineapple to give the potatoes a Hawaiian taste. It is so quick to make. Put your McCain Ready Baked Jacket Potato into the microwave. While it is cooking simply mix together cream cheese, small pieces of ham and pineapple chunks in a bowl. I cut the pineapple into smaller pieces to make them bite size. Take the potato out of the microwave and add the topping. Sprinkle with chives cut into small pieces and enjoy.

The Hawaiian topping sounds scrumptious. I bought those jacket potatoes to enter the competition. We don’t have a microwave, and took me ages to cook it from frozen. 🙂
