Petface Grooming Products Review

December 14, 2012

I was recently sent some Petface Grooming products to review, well not for me but for my dog. This is my dog, Eddie who is a King Charles Spaniel.

He is around two years old and loves going out for walks, chewing everything in sight and cuddles. He also loves reviewing products, he recently tried a personalised dog bowl  and some Symply dog food. The problem with having a dog at this time of year is that when they go for walks every day in wet muddy and snowy conditions they do get a bit smelly. It is not Eddie’s fault, he tried to get clean but the mud tends to have a unique muddy smell that is hard to remove. Petface Grooming products offer a solution to this smelly problem.

I was sent three products in the Petface range, Dog Grooming Wipes, Dog Shampoo and Disinfectant Spray. The active ingredient in all the range is Byotrol, which acts to kill germs but is also gentle on skin (and fur) whilst acting to remove odours. It is effective against 99.9% of germs including MRSA and will continue to act after the surface has dried giving you peace of mind.

The first product I tried was the Petface Dog Grooming wipes. Eddie has a habit of coming back from walks with very muddy paws and underbelly and will then roll around on the carpet to try and dry himself. I normally have a towel by the door but it does not always remove mud.

These dog grooming wipes are a good size and are quite strong and absorbent. They have a lovely smell, it is a very fresh spring like smell with soapy overtones. The wipes are meant to remove stray hairs from the fur as well as dirt which is useful as Eddie tends to leave hair everywhere. When he came in from his walk I gave him a wipe down with these. I was very impressed at how much dirt they did remove and Eddie was left smelling very pleasant.

The next product I tried was the dog shampoo. This has a very similar smell to the dog wipes which is pleasant, fresh and spring like. The shampoo lathered up well and rinsed out of his fur nicely and he was left looking very soft and fluffy after he dried. The pleasant smell also lingered on his fur which I quite liked.

Finally I used the disinfectant spray in the areas in the kitchen around his bed. We keep Eddie’s bed in the kitchen as it is the easiest place to keep him but I do worry about germs. With the spray I have peace of mind that the germs are being killed as well as a nice smell in the kitchen.

I was really pleased with these products, especially the grooming wipes. It is much nicer to have cuddles with Eddie now as the smell of wet mud has gone. I will be getting these again. Petface Grooming products are available Sainsbury’s nationwide and from all good pet stores. You find find more information about Petface Grooming products on their website. Disclosure: I was sent some Petface Grooming Products to try but was not told what to write and my opinions are my own.
