I am a BzzAgent which means I get sent new products to try and tell you about.. I have been thinking about purchasing an electric toothbrush for a while now and when BzzAgent asked me to try the Colgate ProClinical C600 Electric Toothbrush I was very pleased. The Colgate ProClinical C600 Electric toothbrush is part of a new range of toothbrushes from Colgate that aim to make your teeth cleaner than ever.
The Colgate ProClinical C600 Toothbrush provides three distinct brushing motions to choose from. These are a sensitive side to side brushing, mid-speed massaging strokes for the gum line and fast up and down strokes for the molars. These can be changed by pressing a button. It uses a sonic cleaning action which reduces plaque five times more than using a normal toothbrush. It is also the first electric toothbrush in the UK with smart sensors that adjust the speed and direction of the brush strokes so you get a different cleaning action for your teeth and gums. I was interested to see what it would be like
Opening the box I found the toothbrush, which comes with one head, a travel case for it, the charger and the instruction booklet.
The charging unit comes with a two pin shaver plug so if you do not have one you will need to buy an adapter. The travel case is very handy for keeping it safe in the bathroom and will fit two heads. The heads slot easily on and off the toothbrush so you could easily have a different head for each member of the family.
The toothbrush is a nice size and feels light in the hand. There is an on off switch at the top which you press to activate the toothbrush. Underneath this is a button to change the cleaning mode of the toothbrush. This has a light in it which changes colour according to the cleaning mode you are using so you can keep track. I did find that sometimes I accidentally turned it off while due to the way I gripped the brush, but after I had been using it for a while this was no longer an issue.
The toothbrush uses special brush heads that use Triple Clean technology, they have spiral bristles to help to remove surface stains, inner bristles to remove plaque and tapering outer bristles to clean along the gum line.
Never having used an electric toothbrush before I was not sure what to expect. The first thing I noticed was that it gives a buzzing sound when you turn it on. This varies in pitch according to the mode you are using. The toothbrush itself is comfortable to use although it does feel a bit tingly in your mouth until you get used to it. There is an internal timer which alerts you after every 30 seconds to move to another section of your mouth, and it automatically switches itself off after 2 minutes of cleaning.
The Colgate ProClinical C600 Toothbrush does seem to retain its charge very well. I have only needed to charge it once a week, so if you are going away you do not need to bring the charger with you. It had a gentle cleaning action on your teeth once you get used to the buzzing noise. The one thing I did notice was that my teeth definitely feel a lot cleaner since I have been using this toothbrush and I think they look a lot whiter as well. I am very pleased with it and wonder why I have never used an electric toothbrush before.
