Chiquita Super Crunchy Chips

January 5, 2012

Now it is the New Year I am trying to eat more healthily and lose some of the weight gained over the Christmas period. One of the things I am trying to do is to eat more fruit, but it is not always convenient to carry fruit about.  I have tried this before and found that I ended up with squashed fruit in my handbag which is not very pleasant. I was pleased to have the chance to try these new Super Crunchy Chips from Chiquita, which are 100% fruit but in a form that is portable. They come in little bags which contain dried fruit chips.

There are three types, Pineapple, Banana and Fruit Mix which is a mixture of pineapple, banana and mango. They are 100% fruit dried chips that contain no added sugar. These seemed to be ideal for a healthy snack and I couldn’t wait to try them.

This is what they look like in the bag, this is the Fruit Mix.

As you can see the chips are a nice size and seem to have been cut straight of the fruit. My previous experiences of dried pineapple were little tiny cubes but I actually think I prefer these, they look more natural.

They tasted lovely, they are really sweet and you can definitely taste the different fruits. They are also very crunchy and chewy which makes them that much more satisfying. The good news is that my son also loved these and asked for more which is great as they are better for him that other snacks he likes. I loved the crunchy banana chips but my son preferred the pineapple as it is sweeter.

The bags are 25g which is a good size for a snack and will fit nicely into a lunch box.  One 25g bag of fruit mix contained 387kJ (92.5 kcal) of energy.

RRP 0.97p and you will find them in Asda.
