Are you making the most of life? The Welljoy pack from the Welljoy shop is…
A dog day in the life of Eddie, the King Charles Spaniel
Have you ever wondered what your dog gets up to all day? My dog has taken over my blog to share the details of a day in his life.
Woof! Can you see my owner? I am sneaking onto the blog today. After all who can resist a cute dog like me? In case you don’t know, my name is Eddie and I am a seven year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
My mum has asked me to tell you about a day in my life. I am really excited to meet you as you haven’t heard from me before. After all, I am a really important member of the family.
Who would like to know what I get up to all day?
Dog Day in the Life
Morning
Hey, it’s morning. I know its morning as the sun is coming in the windows. How come no one is up yet? There is so much to do, walks to go on and places to explore. How can I wake people up? I know, I will start squeaking to let them know it is time to get up.
Look it worked! Here’s mum! I will jump up to greet her and let her know I am glad she’s up. I get lots of cuddles and it sets my tail wagging. She’s going to go and make a cuppa. I will sneak onto the bed and see if dad can rub my ears while I wait. My ears get itchy overnight and I love to get them rubbed.
Time for walkies
Look mum’s dressed and going downstairs. It must be time for walkies. I run quickly downstairs so she doesn’t leave without me, woofing in excitement. It is too exciting to sit still while mum puts my lead on.
I love going for a walk in our local country park. There are so many interesting things to smell. Mum lets me run free off the lead. Sometimes I meet doggy friends and other times I get to chase rabbits. They always seem to disappear, I don’t know where they go. One day I will catch one, but I am not sure what I will do with it.
All too quickly it’s time to go home and it’s time for breakfast. All that walking makes me hungry. My bowl is full and I quickly eat all my wet food. It’s time for a nap, but first I need to patrol the garden. Birds have a habit of landing on the bird table and I need to chase them away. Fortunately, all is quiet so I can go and doze off.
Today mum is off work so I know I can go into the garden later.

Nap time
There is nothing I like better than curling up and having a nap. My mum says I snore loudly but I think she makes that up. If I can’t snuggle up to someone I will lie on a cushion or in a basket and have a nap. On hot days I curl up on the bathroom floor. It’s made of tiles so it’s lovely and cool.
I always have one ear open. If I hear a noise I will hop up onto the windowsill and survey outside. If anyone walks past with a dog I will bark. I can’t have other dogs coming near my house!
Sometimes my puppy human will play frisbee with me. I love chasing the frisbee and being chased. I am very fast so it is hard to catch me.

Evening time
I know it’s time for my dinner when I see my mum preparing dinner for the family. I will come over and look at her and lick my lips so she knows I am hungry. It always works, and she puts food into my bowl. I try looking at my humans while they are eating in case they give me some scraps, but it never works.

After I have eaten, my puppy human takes me for a walk. I know it is time for my walk and will sit by the door until I go.
Before bed, I like to play with my toy duck. It gets me settled for the night so I can have a good sleep. My mum gives me a brush and does my teeth.
I am not keen on getting my teeth brushed but I know dog dental care is important. I had teeth out in the past and it is not pleasant. The vet put me to sleep and when I woke I had a sore mouth. I want to avoid that if I can. Sometimes my mum gives me a Pedigree Dentastix as a treat as she knows they help keep my teeth healthy. Much nicer than brushing!
After a busy day, I am ready to sleep so I curl up on my bed. Soon I am dreaming of chasing rabbits.
