Tideford Organics Food Review

Tideford Organics are a company who are based in South Devon who specialise in producing organic soups, sauces, pestos, porridges and puddings. They have won a number of awards for their food. All the food is produced using vegetables, herbs and spices which have been grown without using artificial fertilizers or pesticides and no artificial ingredients have been added. I was recently offered the chance to try some of their products and I must admit I was looking forward to trying them.
I have grown vegetables at home in the past and I always find they are much more flavourful than the vegetables that are grown in the shops. I was interested to see if this flavour would be noticeable in Tideford Organics range.

I was sent a mixture of soups, sauces and rice pudding to try. Some of these are already available and some of these will be launched shortly so I was getting a sneak preview.

Soups

The soups come in two different sizes, 300g and 600g. The 300g pots are the perfect size for one and I found them ideal to take to work and warm in the mircowave for lunch. Current flavours are Organic Farmhouse Chicken with Lemon and Thyme, Organic Beetroot with Creme Fraiche and Dill. Organic Italian Tomato, Lentil and Red Pepper, Organic Spicy Butternut Squash with Sweet Potato, Organic Spinich and Split Pea with Nutmeg and Organic Winter Parsnip with Warm Spices and Ginger.

The Organic Spicy Butternut squash was my next favourite. I normally find soups with root vegetables in can be a little bland but this was not. The added spices brought out the flavour and gave it a warming glow. My son loved the Farmhouse Chicken, so much that I never got a taste.

I also got to sample two new soups that will be available shortly, Minestrone Soup with Gluten Free Pasta and Pea and Mint Soup.

I really loved the Minestrone soup. It has a great tomato flavour and is full of chunks of vegetables and pasta which you need to spoon out. I sometimes find you get a strange after taste with minestrone soup, but not in this case. It is gorgeous.

The Pea and Mint soup is full of chunks of pea. You can really taste the freshness of the peas and they are complimented nicely by the subtle taste of the mint.

Rice Pudding

Rice pudding is one of those things you either love or hate. I personally love it. Currently there are three flavours available, Luxury Classic Rice Pudding, Butterscotch Rice Pudding and Chocolate Rice Pudding.

photo Tuna2_zps8f4d02f3.jpgThe Rice Pudding comes in 125g pots which are a perfect size for one. The Rice pudding is lovely and creamy and the rice is tender and melts in your mouth. I tried the Butterscotch and it has a lovely subtle after-taste of butterscotch that compliments the pudding perfectly. My son tried the chocolate and he loved it, he said it was lovely and full of chocolate flavour. These are great to have in for a dessert or just a snack when you are a bit hungry. They can be eaten hot or cold, I enjoyed them cold but my son warmed his up.

Sauces

I love ready made sauces for when you need to make a meal in a hurry and Tideford Organics have a great range. Currently they have Tomato and Basil, Ragu a la Bolognese, Jalapeño and Lime Salsa and Mediterranean Vegetable.

These are perfect used with pasta apart from the Jalapeño and Lime Salsa which is the perfect accompaniment to a spicy dish. The tomato based sauces are bursting with flavour and really make a meal a pleasure. There is none of that metallic taste that you can sometimes get with jars of sauce, they taste fresh and home made.
I tried the Jalapeño and Lime Salsa with tuna steaks and spicy noodles.

It was gorgeous, it really complimented the tuna. The salsa has nice sized bits in it and you get a little burst of lime coming through which is really pleasant.

Tideford Organics are also adding two more sauces to their range which I got the pleasure of trying in advance. These are West Country Cheddar Cheese and a Carbonara with Bacon and Nutmeg.

They are both lovely, rich creamy sauces with no hint of lumps. The West Country Cheddar has a lovely cheesy tang and was perfect on Macaroni Cheese. All these products could easily be passed off as home made if you need to impress someone with your cooking skills! I really enjoyed the Tideford Organics range and will be looking out for them in the shops.

Disclosure: I was sent some products from the Tideford Organics range in order to do an honest review. I was not told what to write and my opinions are my own.
