Palmolive Authentics Range Review

Palmolive have been  making soap since 1898 and have recently expanded their range to include aromatic shower gels, handwashes and soaps. I always remember using Palmolive soap when I was little and I used to really like the soft creamy lather it produced so I was pleased to be asked to try some of the Palmolive Authentics range.

The Authentic range are vintage styled but have fresh and floral fragrances guaranteed to delight your senses. The first product I tried from the Palmolive Authentics Range was the Palmolive Lavender and Chamomile bar soap.

Palmolive Lavender and Chamomile soap

This comes in traditional brown paper packaging which when opened reveals a rectangular purple bar with Palmolive written across it.  This looks nice sitting on my white sink. When I tried the soap it had a gorgeous lavender smell that made it a pleasure to use and it produced plenty of lather. I could smell the lavender on my skin after using the product and even better it did not dry out my skin, like soap often can. The soap is also available in Bergamot and RRP £1.29

The next product I tried was the Palmolive Bergamot and Verbena Shower Gel.
Palmolive Shower Gel

The first thing I noticed about the Palmolive shower gel was the shape of the bottle. It is slightly indented at the bottom which means that when you lift it up to use it in the shower it fits nicely into your hand. The shower gel is also a lovely green colour which looks striking on the side of the bath. The vintage theme continues in the label with the almost art deco flowers surrounding the writing. Palmolive Bergamot and Verbenna Shower gel is made with natural Bergamot oil from Southern Italy and when you open the bottle you can smell it. The smell is warm and uplifting and really makes you feel awake and refreshed. It leaves the skin lovely and soft as well. Palmolive shower gel is RRP £1.99 and is also available in Damask Rose and Musk.

The final product from the Palmolive Authentic Range that I tried was the Lavender and Chamomile Handwash.

Palmolive handwash

The Palmolive handwash again comes in the nicely shaped bottle which makes it easy to hold, but this time it has a pump top lid.  The pump dispenses just enough to wash your hands, which is great as otherwise my son would use it in one go. The soft purple colour looks great on my kitchen windowsill. It has a lovely lavender fragrance and leaves your hands feeling lovely and clean but also soft. Palmolive handwash is RRP £2.03

You can find the Palmolive Authentics range in most supermarkets.

Method French Lavender Hand Wash

Did you know that today (Monday 15th October) is Global Hand Washing Day? It seemed appropriate that I review some Method French Lavender Hand Wash today, ideal for washing your hands.

PhotobucketThe good thing about Method hand wash is that it uses natural ingredients and is paraben free.  The natural ingredients are things like aloe, coconut oil and glycerine which actually help to moisturise your skin.  If you wash your hands a lot you can find they drying out, but Method hand wash acts to stop this. My hands do tend to get very dry and I noticed an improvement when I used this hand wash. When you use the hand wash you will also notice the gorgeous smell. Obviously as it is french lavender hand wash it smells of lavender, but it does not smell at all artificial or over powering.

I love the packaging as well, the container is simple and elegant and looks lovely on my windowsill.  The bottle is recyclable as well so kind to the environment. The Method hand wash is a lovely purple colour and it glows like a jewel when the sun hits it. It is easy to get the hand wash out of the container, just push down on the lid and a small amount is dispensed. This is great because my son has a tendency to use large amounts of hand wash if he can and this allows him to just use the right amount.

I also like the fact that the hand wash is biodegradable. It means when I use it I don’t need to worry about adding anything harmful to the environment. I really liked this hand wash and would get it again.

As it is Global Hand Washing day I thought I would share a few tips about washing your hands. Hand washing is one of the most important things that you can do to reduce the spread of infection. If you wash your hands regularly with soap and water you and your family are more likely to stay healthy. Bearing in mind that most colds are caused by viruses and not bacteria, anti-bacterial soap will not help. The key is to take your time washing your hands. You should take between a minutes to three minutes, remembering that although the dirt might have gone the germs may need a little bit more scrubbing to remove.

You can find Method hand wash in Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Waitrose, Superdrug, John Lewis and Homebase. RRP £2.49

I was sent some of the Zingy Citrus products to review.  I love the fact that all these  products have pictures of  colourful collection of squeaky clean ‘super kids’ – Cosmo, Sophie, Leo, Daya and Spiro.  Spiro is actually a dog.  On the back of the bottles different super kids offer earth friendly idea, which definitely captured my sons imagination. The different products have different suggestions on them which adds variety. He was very taken with the idea of being a super kid and having a product just for him.

Handwash

The hand wash is a godsend.  Its a really easy to use pump dispenser and placed strategically in the bathroom it encouraged my son to wash his hands when required. Usually I have to remind him to do this.  The smell is lovely, really orangey and refreshing.

Shampoo & Bodywash

Again this has a lovely orange smell. The good thing is that the lid is carefully designed so only a small amount comes out at once.  My son has a terrible habit of pouring half a bottle of shampoo out in any one go and then wondering why there is none left. With this bottle he in unable to do this. Its nice that the shampoo and body wash are in the same product. This makes it easy for him as he only needs to grab one product to be clean.

Body Lotion

This again is a cleverly designed pump action bottle so you only get a selected amount out of the bottle at any one time. It absorbs quickly into the skin leaving your skin feeling soft and well moisturised without being sticky.

The Earth Friendly Kids line-up is available from selected Waitrose stores, good baby and health stores and via www.HealthQuestStore.com (customers should call 0845 310 4411 for details of their nearest stockist). You can also find them on Facebook here
