Rockford’s Rock Opera – The final chapter

You may remember some time ago I reviewed Rockford’s Rock Opera, which is an enhanced audio book aimed at children aged 6 – 12. It is a lovely story about a boy named Moog and his dog Rockford, who go on a series of amazing adventures where they learn an important secret that needs to be shared with the world.  It’s a great story and is mixed with fabulous songs, that stick in your head and get you singing along. It also has a serious ecological message about extinction, which is told in a moving way.

The fourth app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch has just been launched, bringing the story to its thrilling conclusion. Currently it is number 6 in the App Book charts showing how popular it is.  It was created by Sweetapple and written by Steve Punt and is very successful with nearly 100,000 downloads to date. You can also download the audio story from the website, which features music pictures and CGI animation. It has currently been downloaded more than a million times.

Excitingly the success of the app downloads has brought the story to the attention of some big names in the USA. Not much is being revealed at present but apparently a celebrity version is being planned, featuring some famous people from film and music. A film is also planned.

If you download the story as Apple Apps it is available in four parts. The first part (which is over an hour long) is free and parts 2, 3 and 4 are £2.99 each.
