Yonka Anti-Ageing Skin Care

A while ago I was sent two Yonka Anti-ageing products to try out. As I am over 40 my skin is starting to show fine lines and wrinkles and it needs all the help it can get to turn back time.

Yonka is not a brand I was familiar with so I had a little look to see what I could find out. It appears the company was started by two doctors who wanted to use plants and natural means to find cures for burns, joint pain and colds. The idea grew from there and a company was formed that add essential oils and plant extracts into face creams, massage oils and body oils which have a beneficial effect on the skin.

I was sent two products from the range to try, Yonka Fruitelia Anti-Wrinkle Renewer and Yonka Alpha Complex Anti-Wrinkle Renewing. The two products are complimentary as Yonka Fruitelia is for day time use and the Yonka Alpha Complex is for night time use.  The first thing that struck me about the products was the packaging. The boxes are a lovely silver colour with small amounts of purple writing and silver flowers on them. They look really elegant.

Yonka Fruitelia

Yonka Fruitelia comes in a glass bottle which continues the silver theme. It has a pump top lid, which you need to twist before you can get any to come out. It can be locked again afterwards, which is great for stopping children messing around and wasting it! It is made from a mixture of fruit extracts. You can really smell the fruit when you use it, it has a gorgeous scent.

Yonka Fruitelia is a really light moisturiser which sinks into your skin quickly leaving your skin feeling lovely and soft. It should be applied in the morning after cleansing and toning. The fruit acids in the product are meant to promote cell renewal and remove dull lifeless skin whilst smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.  I have definitely seen an improvement in my skin since I have been using this product.

RRP £54.00 for 50 ml.

Yonka Alpha Complex

Yonka Alpha Complex is again in a glass bottle with a silver theme although it is pale yellow in colour. It is designed to be used at night after cleansing and toning and the product also contains fruit acids which work to remove dull lifeless skin and erase wrinkles.  It has the same pump top as the Yonka Fruitelia which needs to be twisted to get the product to come out, a design I like. Again when you use it you get a lovely fruity scent which is gorgeous.

Yonka Alpha Concentrate feels very light on the skin and absorbs very quickly, without leaving the skin feeling greasy or tight. My skin looks softer and I can see a reduction in the fine lines on my skin since I have been using this.  These are lovely products and I would recommend them.

RRP £60.00 for 30 ml

The products are more expensive than products I would normally buy but they actually have lasted really well and I actually think I would have used twice as much of my normal product so it would work out about the same.

Rio Rosa Mosqueta Anti-Aging Day and Night Cream

A while ago I reviewed Rio Rosa Mosqueta Oil which I was very impressed with. I was really pleased to be contacted again and asked if I wanted to review their new product, Rio Rosa Mosqueta Anti-Aging Day and Night Cream. I leapt at the chance as it could not have come at a better time. I was suffering from a bad onset of winter skin, it was feeling really dry and out of condition and there was a definite onset of fine lines. I was really interested to see how it would perform.

The cream comes in a lovely box that shows a picture of the Rosa Mosqueta and the sides show lots of information about the product.   The rose-hips of the Rosa Mosqueta rose are used as one of the ingredients in this cream along with Bulgarian rose extract and other well known skin cream ingredients like  Shea Butter, Macadamia nut oil, Aloe vera, Calendula, Horsetail and Chamomile. The Rosa Mosqueta is a rose that grows high in the Chilean mountains and is known to be specially high in essential fatty acids which are known to be good for the skin and provide great healing benefits. The cream is meant to protect your skin from harmful UVA radiation during the day and to nourish, hydrate and repair it while you sleep. It is also free from parabens, paraffin or other synthetic ingredients.

The cream itself comes in a glass pot, with the rose theme continuing onto the silver lid which I think is a nice touch.

The cream is white in colour and is quite thick, a little bit goes a long way. It feels really luxurious  on the skin and it sinks in to your skin really well, instantly making your skin feel much softer.  It has a nice subtle smell, which smells a little bit like roses, but it is not too strong or over-powering.

It is advised to use the cream morning and evening after cleansing the skin and for the best results it should be used in conjunction with Rio Rosa Mosqueta oil. I just tried it on its own and I have to say after using it for two weeks I am really impressed. I mentioned that my skin was going though a horrible dry phase, due to the onset of cold weather. This has completely gone and my skin now feels much softer and smoother. I have noticed that the fine lines I was experiencing seem a lot less pronounced as well.  I think my skin looks much better as well, it definitely has a more youthful glow. I loved this cream and the way it made my skin feel, I will definitely use it again.

RRP £14.99

Comvita Anti-Ageing Hand and Nail Cream

I suffer from very dry hands and wanted to give this hand cream from Comvita a try. It is from MyPure which means that it is paraben, phthalate and sulphate free. In addition it is meant to be an incredibly nourishing hand cream which sounded perfect for me.

One of the ingredients is Manuka honey, which is honey that comes from bees in New Zealand that frequent the Manuka bush. This is meant to have fantastic antibacterial qualities as well as being used to improve the skins elasticity which will delay ageing. Other ingredients are Moroccan argan oil, shea butter and Macadamia oil whichare included for their moisturising properties and extract of the native New Zealand Harakeke flax plant which is meant to have soothing properties.

The tube it comes in is a nice size, it is easy to carry in your handbag for moisturising on the go. The hand cream is white in colour and when massaged into the hands it is absorbed quickly. Your hands do not feel greasy and do feel much softer. You do not need to use very much, a little dollop of cream spreads over both your hands really well.  As an added bonus it is a nail treatment as well,  when used regularly it will strengthen your nails. I already have found that my nails are lasting much longer as well as my hands looking and feeling much softer. This is a lovely hand cream to use.

RRP £14 for 75 ml

Rio Rosa Mosqueta oil

Recently I was sent a sample of Rio Rosa Mosqueta oil to try. I was very intrigued to try this oil as it is meant to fade scars and reduce signs of ageing naturally which sounds almost too good to be true.

Rio Rosa Mosqueta oil is made from the rose hips of a wild rose that grows high in the Chilean mountains. The rose is called Rosa Affines Rubiginosa or more commonly Rosa Mosqueta. When the rosehips are made into the oil they are high in Essential Fatty Acids, mainly Omega 3 and 6 which is used by the body to heal scar tissue.  It also contains Trans-Retinoic Acid which is a natural form of vitamin A which the body uses to reduce signs of ageing.

Apparently it works because the body uses the high levels of Essential Fatty Acids contained in the oil to encourage cell growth. The new cells rise to the surface of the skin  and eventually fade scars and blemishes. It also meant to be really good for dry skin.

It is available as 500mg capsules (90 capsules RRP £20.49) , a 20ml bottle (RRP £9.99) or a 50ml bottle (RRP £19.99) . You can find your local stockist here.

I was sent the 20ml bottle to try. I have to say it is a nice size and has a really good pump top so that you only get a small amount of the oil leaving the bottle at any one time.  This is good as you only need to massage in

couple of drops two or three times a day into the area you wish to treat. It should be stored away from heat or direct light.

The oil is a nice consistency and absorbs really well into the skin, it does not leave a sticky residue. Interesting enough there is no smell, I expected it to smell of roses but it doesn’t. A few drops go a really long way, you do not need much to moisturise a reasonable area of skin.

I have been testing this now for about two weeks. I have a large scar on my arm where I fell on a broken glass bottle many years ago which is rather unsightly. I decided to try it out on this and see if it lived up to the claims that were made about it. I have to say I am very impressed. After two weeks I can see  a difference and the scar does look reduced in size and a lot less noticeable. I am very pleasantly surprised and can say the product definitely does what it says. Its a lovely light oil as well and would make a very nice moisturiser for dry skin.
