Looking at the Positives

It is that time of the week again, time to have a look at the scales and see if I have lost any weight. This week I have found it has been getting dark in the mornings again. I have been running into the rising sun which is quite nice, at this time of the year there are some very dramatic sunrises which are an inspiration to look at. I have been sticking at doing just over a mile for a couple of reasons. It is dark and also apparently someone was attacked a couple of miles away while out running. I decided to play it safe and stick to the lighted streets and work on building my distances up when it starts getting lighter again.

This week was the last week of my Jenny Craig plan. I actually found that I quite liked the plan and did not feel that hungry. I am looking forward to cooking my own meals again though. I decided to have a look back over the past month and find some of the positive things I had learnt. Here they are:

  1. I am now fit. Before I started running I would have struggled to run to catch a bus but now I can run two miles. This is a definite achievement and it shows fitness is possible at any age. (I am in my forties, shush don’t tell)
  2. I have learnt how to eat the right size portions. This is something that I have learnt on Jenny Craig, I was eating portions that were too large and also a lot of the wrong things. I have found that my tastes have changed and even though I have finished the plan I still fancied a salad for lunch. Hopefully this will continue.
  3. I can fit into old clothes. Everyone has clothes in their wardrobe they are keeping for when they lose that little bit of weight. At the weekend I found I could actually fit into a pair of jeans I hadn’t worn since before I had my son. I loved those jeans so I was very happy. It gives you a real confidence boost. They are still a little tight but I could fasten them up.
  4. I have lots more energy which is definitely a great thing.

I had to rather guess at my weight loss this week as my son has managed to lose the remote control for the TV so I can’t use the wii as I can’t turn the TV on. I did check on the scales and I think that I have lost 2 lbs so I am very pleased with that. I am nearly at my target.
