Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

If you are looking for some last minute Christmas gift ideas I have found some. These gift ideas are suitable for a range of different people and guarantee a smile.

Christmas can get expensive. If you are not careful you can soon find that you have gone over budget and spent much more than you meant to. Every year I write lists. Lists make the process of organising Christmas so much easier. I have lists for Christmas cards, Christmas presents and food shopping. A meal timing list is also invaluable for getting Christmas dinner on the table. Despite the list I always find that there is someone I need a last minute Christmas gift for. There is always one relative who appears unexpectedly or a neighbour who drops by. This year I have been searching for some last minute gift ideas and found some ideal gifts. If you are looking for last minute Christmas gift ideas hopefully you will find something here to help you.

Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

Sainsburys Greatest Gift Film Kit

If you haven’t seen all the Christmas adverts on the television you must be living under a rock. Sainsbury’s Christmas advert is a bright and joyful Christmas musical. Dave is a hard working day who wants to get home to his family. Sadly all sorts of calamities get in the way. Coming home late at night when everyone is asleep he spots a gingerbread man on his daughter’s bedside table that looks like him. He realises that the greatest gift he can give people this Christmas is his time. It is a lovely advert which highlights how you can get caught up in the duties of Christmas and neglect those closest to you.

This year Sainsbury’s are working in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital to help families be together. Great Ormond Street Hospital is the UK’s largest paediatric centre for many services and over 50% of the children treated there are from outside London. Imagine the difficulties that you would face having a child in hospital many miles from where you live. That would be difficult at any time of year but it is especially hard at Christmas. To help raise money to fund accommodation for parents to stay close to their children Sainsbury’s have created the The Greatest Gift Film Kit.

Sainsbury's Greatest Gift Movie Kit

The kit allows you to become a director and create your own animated film. It contains the everything you need to create a film, from backdrops to cut out characters and props. There is also a booklet describing how to get started making your own film. All you need is do download the free Sainsbury’s Story Studio app and you can get started. This is available in Itunes and the Google Play Store. Do make sure it is compatible with your devices first, sadly mine was not compatible.

The kit costs £5 but £2 for each kit sold goes to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. This is a great fun idea which would be a perfect project to do with kids on Christmas day.  You can also buy a Gingerbread Dave for £1 and 50p goes toGreat Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.  These would be a great stocking filler.

Personalised Marmite

Do you love Marmite or hate it? It is one of those things there are no half measures on. I am not keen on it but my mum loves it. I think she inherited the taste from my Granddad. One of his favourite snacks of all time was brown bread and Marmite. A fabulous gift for any Marmite lover would be a personalised Marmite jar.

Magazine Gift Vouchers

What could be nicer that receiving a gift of a magazine subscription? Last year I had a subscription to BBC Good Food and I looked forward to it turning up at my door. It was a great source of recipe inspiration and ideas. The great thing about a magazine is that you can get one to suit everyone. Know a keen photographer, gardener or computer buff, get them a subscription to a suitable magazine. Magazines are not just about hobbies, you can get magazines for entertainment and light reading as well. Magazine gift vouchers are a perfect last minute gift as they can be emailed to the recipient.

Magazine gift vouchers are really simple to order. Just follow these steps:

  • Go to and choose a magazine that your recipient will love
  • On the date of your choosing an email will be sent with the gift voucher and warm wishes from you. (The voucher can also be printed and put inside a card)
  • The recipient can then go to and enter the voucher code

The magazine will then be sent to their door for a year. Every time they get the next issue they will think of you. A perfect gift.

The gingerbread men look great, we made a batch with our daughter just before Christmas time though didn’t get the chance to decorate them so might look at these at some point this year for a bit of fun. Some good suggestions there, thanks for doing the write up and best wishes for 2017.
