A little while ago I received a selection of Geeta’s products including Geeta’s Spice and Stir Curry Sauce and a selection of their chutneys. I was looking forward to trying them out as my husband loves curry but I am not confident in cooking it. It is always easier to use a sauce mix or curry paste and pretend you did all the hard work yourself.
I decided to try the Geeta’s Spice and Stir Saag Sauce first. This is described as a medium curry with a spicy tomato sauce containing spinach or saag, garlice and dill and seasoned with fenugreek and garam masala. I am not keen on hot curry so this sounded nice.
I had a few different chutneys to try with it, Mango and Chilli Chutney, Mango Chutney and Lime and Chilli Chutney. I decided to make the curry first and then decide which to use.
The Geeta’s Spice and Stir Curry Sauce comes in two parts. On top of the lid is a plastic top containing the spices and the jar contains the sauce. The spices are held into the plastic top by some silver foil.
I took some mushrooms, onions and chicken and browned them in a pan and then added the spices. A lovely aroma came from the pan as I stirred it. Once the spices have infused you add the jar of sauce and cook for about fifteen minutes until it is all cooked though.
While it was simmering I decided to serve it with Geeta’s Mango Chutney and placed a bit on the plate. It is lovely and fruity with a hint of spice to it and complements the curry perfectly.I served the curry with some rice and I have to say it was very nice. It was not too hot but it was spicy without being overpoweringly so. My husband and son loved it as well. It was a really quick and easy way to make a curry, perfect for cooking when you come in after a day at work and want to get a meal ready fast.
Disclosure: I was sent some Geeta’s products in order to do an honest review. I was not told what to write and my opinions are my own.
