December is a busy time of year. The countdown to the holidays is on. Food shopping needs to be done, presents need to be bought. To do lists can soon spiral out of control and you can feel tired and exhausted. The shorter days don’t help. Getting up and coming home in the dark is draining. The holidays are a time when you need your energy. You want to feel and look your best for Christmas parties. You want to slip on your little black dress and be sure it still fits. To help boost my energy levels and get ready for the holidays I have been trying out Chris James 3R 3 day cleanse.
Chris James 3R 3 Day Cleanse
3R stands for Remove, Restore and Rejevenate which is what the Chris James 3R 3 Day Cleanse aims to do. The plan lasts for three days and inside the box are nine sachets of powder which you add to smoothies and juice. Three of these need to be taken a day. As well as the sachets of powder you get a small leaflet that details what else you can eat whilst on the plan. The aim of the plan is to remove unnatural products from the diet. Over the three days no meat, fish or dairy products can be consumed. Tea, coffee and alcohol are also out along with soft drinks. If you have a sweet tooth then sweets, biscuits and cakes are also excluded. Fortunately the plan comes with an extensive recipe list so you will not be short of food to eat. Day one – remove
The first day of the 3R cleanse aims to remove all unnatural food from the diet. This includes refined and processed food. The hardest part for me was starting the morning without a cup of tea. Herbal tea is just not the same. Breakfast was a wheat free, sugar free museli with plenty of seeds and fruit. I had made up a big box of this the night before and it was very tasty. The muesli was also handy as a quick snack when I felt peckish. For lunch there was a range of salad suggestions. These were all easy to make and simple to take to work in a lunch box. I will use these recipes on a more regular basis now as they were so tasty. For dinner I had a baked sweet potato and borlotti bean stew which was delicious. The sachets of powder were easy to take with me and tasted really nice mixed with juice.
Day two – Restore
Day two was a little harder. I had a bit of a headache and I assume this was due to the removal of toxins from the body. Breakfast was porridge with blueberries. I usually have porridge for breakfast anyway so this was easy. The porridge is prepared without milk and left to soak overnight in a similar way to overnight oats. Lunch was another tasty salad and for dinner I had lentil soup. This was made without bacon but extra spice added flavour.
Day three – Rejuvenate
By day three I was feeling great and full of energy. On day three the diet consists of juices and a large range of different juice recipes are supplied. Ideally you should just drink juice though the day but in the winter you also have the option of adding soups. I did this as it was a very cold day. I thought this day would be hard but it wasn’t bad at all.
At the end of the three days I had more energy, felt much better and had lost three pounds. I feel much better for trying out this detox and am heading into party season with some sparkle. I have also discovered some new recipes that I will be adding into our everyday diets. Who knew pulses could taste so good?
