With these six tips for getting your sun summer ready you will be happy to wear summer clothes and make the most of the sunshine.

It looks like Spring is finally here. The last few days have been lovely and sunny. Spring flowers are appearing in gardens and the birds are starting to think about building nests. It is lovely to see the sun again. Once the sun starts coming out we start to think about bringing out our summer clothes. Jumpers and boots which were perfect for the winter are too heavy for the sunshine. Lighter clothing means the chance to show off our skin again. Sadly over the winter the skin often gets neglected and it needs a little pampering to get it looking good again. I have put together some tips for getting your skin summer ready. If you start now your skin will be looking good in time for the summer.

Six Tips for getting your skin summer ready.

Follow these six tips for getting your skin summer ready and you will be ready to bare in the summer.

Exfoliate

Wearing layers of clothing over the winter can cause dead skin cells to build up, leaving our skin looking dull and lifeless. Exfoliating regularly will remove the dead skin cells making your skin look fresher and younger. Choosing the right exfoliating scrub is half the battle. I like to use one with natural ingredients like this Crazy Angel Halo Polish Scrub (RRP £10.10). It is infused with Sesame and Bearberry which moisturise your skin.  Soft white pearl beads will  gently remove dead skin cells. It works really well on my skin making it feel softer and smoother giving it the perfect boost for the summer.

Invest in an exfoliating scrub that uses natural ingredients, like sugar and salt (not beads) and apply all over your face and body while you’re in the shower. Keep in mind that the skin on your face, neck and chest is thinner than the rest of the skin on your body, so use something that’s more gentle in these areas. Pay special attention to dry spots like your elbows and feet. A body brush can really help get these areas looking soft and smooth.

Moisturise

The summer sun acts to dry out skin. Prevent this happening by making sure you moisturise in the morning and evening. This will make your skin look fresher and make your tan last longer. It will also make your skin feel softer. Why not use a moisturiser than also contains self tan to get that golden sunkissed glow without the sun. It will build your tan up gradually without adding extra time to your beauty regime. I have been trying out Crazy Angel Golden Tease Gradual Tan (RRP £11.00).  The mild tanning agents have given my skin a lovely streak free golden glow.   It works really well as a moisturiser as it is enriched with Bearberry, Shea Butter and Vitamin E.  The smell is nice as well, unlike some fake tans.

Hydrate

Water is important to your body. Over half your body is made up of water and without it your body can’t function correctly. Dehydration can leave you feeling tired and bring on headaches. Lack of water can also leave your skin feeling dry and tight. In the summer your body is losing water as sweat due to the warmer conditions. This needs replacing to keep you looking and feeling your best. Make sure you drink at least eight glasses of water a day or more if you can manage it. Your skin will thank you for it.

Protect

The ultraviolet rays from the sun can have a harmful effect on the skin. As well as causing sunburn if you stay out too long they also have an ageing effect on the skin. Make sure that you apply sunscreen before you go outside. Don’t forget the ultraviolet rays are still present, even on cloudy days. It is good practice to always apply sunscreen and reapply every two hours if you are outside for a long time.

Apply a tan

Nothing makes you feel like Summer has come more than a tanned skin. Getting a tan naturally can take a while and is not good for your skin. If you don’t have the patience to use a gradual tan why not fake it? Crazy Angel Bronze Instant Airbrush Self Tan (RRP £15.30) is a great way to get an instant bronze glow that develops after two hours into a natural looking tan. It is easy to spray on with the 360° spray allowing you to apply it to difficult to reach areas. As well as tanning agents it contains  Aloe Vera and Vitamin E  to moisturise your skin and produce long lasing results.

Don’t forget your feet

Feet are on show over the summer when you wear strappy sandals. Often the skin on the feet suffers from being in boots all winter. The result is hard skin patches that look unsightly. Invest in a pedicure or buy a tool to help you remove hard skin from your feet. The Micro Pedi  is one tool that does a good job. Don’t forget to moisturise your feet and invest in a manicure. Coloured nails look really nice with sandals.

If you start practising these six tips for getting your skin summer ready you should have skin to show off once summer comes. Do you have any other tips to add? Let me know below.

A good skin care routine should be an important part of your daily life. You skin has to deal with a lot, rain, wind and sunshine. A little help will keep it looking at it’s best. My mum taught me the importance of a good skin care routine as a teenager. Now I am in my forties I can see how invaluable her advice was. My skin has remained reasonably fresh.

Unfortunately as you age your skin starts to lose its elasticity and fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. The body starts to produce less collagen which helps your skin stay elastic. You can get products that help increase the collagen in your body like Vida Glow. Starting a good skin care routine early in life is the best way to keep skin looking youthful.

Taking care of your skin with Clinique

My skincare routine has always been simple. I make sure I cleanse and moisturise my skin twice a day. I also exfoliate my skin once a week. My skin is prone to dryness and can be sensitive so I make sure I pick products suitable for my skin type. I also make sure I drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen. This routine has gone a long way to keep my skin young.

Recently I have been trying out two Clinque skin care products, Clinque Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream. Clinque is not a brand I have tried before but I have to say I have been impressed with the results.

Skin care with Clinique

Clinque Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

Clinque Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm RRP £22.00 is a lovely lightweight cleansing balm. It comes in dramatic purple packaging which looks great on my shelf. The tub is a lovely size, wide and flat, so there is no chance of knocking if off accidentally.

Clinque dramatically different cleansing balm

Inside the cleansing balm is very smooth and white, looking almost greasy. A small amount applied onto your skin feels lovely. It glides easily over your skin and removes every last speck of make up and dirt. It is almost as if the balm is changing to a silky oil as you use it.

The cleansing balm rinses off easily and leaves your skin feeling really soft. Only a very small amount is needed to cleanse your face so the tub will last for a long time. I really liked the fact that my skin felt really clean after using this product and it was not left feeling dry and tight. I would definitely use this product again.

Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream

Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream RRP £25.00 comes in green box which contains a small glass pot. On opening the cream I was surprised to find it was yellow in colour, I am used to white creams.  Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream is meant to be used on dry skin, it combines all day protection with skin strengthening ingredients which help to keep the skin younger and more resilient.

The cream feels lovely going on the the skin. It is creamy and sinks in quickly leaving no residue behind. It made my skin feel soft and the dryness disappeared, an effect that lasted all day. For a dry skin this product is ideal and certainly worked well for me.

Don’t you hate the way that your body starts to let you down as you get older. Inside you feel the same as you did when you were eighteen, ready to take on the world. It is only when you look in the mirror that you see the signs of age.  Fine wrinkles appear on the skin and you realise you must laugh too much. The odd grey hair sneaks onto your head and the next thing you know there are loads of them. The reason the skin shows signs of age is down to collagen. Collagen is a protein produced by the body and it helps keep skin soft and supple. As we get older the amount of collagen produced by the body decreases which results in weakened nails, lackluster hair, fine lines, wrinkles and joint problems. All the signs of getting older.  Luckily the beauty industry has come up with several clever ideas to help replace the collagen in the body like Jivesse marine collagen cream which I tried recently.  The most effective way of replacing collagen in the body has got to be though a well formulated supplement. Recently I have been trying out Vida Glow which is a daily supplement which works with your body to help boost your collagen levels.

Vida Glow

Vida Glow Marine Collagen Sachets

Vida Glow claim that regular use of the sachets will help to reduce the signs of ageing, improving skin elasticity, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and even reducing the appearance of cellulite. It has got to be worth a go, right? To aid in this process Vida Glow contains marine collagen, Acai, Green Tea and Hyaluronic Acid. Vida Glow is available in a number of different flavours, natural, blueberry, peach and pineapple. I tried the natural and the blueberry flavour. Blueberries are high in antioxidants and contain lots of vitamin C so will also help benefit your skin. Inside the box the Vida Glow comes in small sachets which contain powder. These can be added to water, food or smoothies. You can take between one and three sachets a day depending how damaged you feel your skin is.

Vida Glow
I really like the sachets, they are small and easy to slip into your handbag. This enables you to take them when you wish. Each box contains 30 3g sachets. The sachets contain a powder that can easily be sprinkled onto food. When added into water they dissolve really quickly and the taste is nice. The blueberry flavour does taste of blueberry and there is no hint of fish at all. I really did expect marine collagen to taste fishy, but it didn’t.

Vida Glow

Vida Glow

What do I think of Vida Glow?

I have been trying Vida Glow for just over a month, just taking a sachet a day. I have seen my hair get thicker, my nails are much stronger and do not break as easily. More importantly my skin feels and looks hydrated and visibly glowing. I have also seen a reduction in the fine lines that had started appearing. I am really impressed with Vida Glow and it is so easy to use and travel friendly as well.

Vida Glow costs £33.95  for 30 sachets and is available from their website  All four flavours are available and they ship worldwide.

I was sent some Vida Glow to try in return for an honest review. I was not obliged to say anything nice.

For a long time people have been searching for the secret for eternal youth. Part of the lore of Alchemy involved the Philosophers Stone which not only could turn base metal into gold but was the elixir of life allowing regeneration and possibly immortality. As you get older wrinkles inevitable appear on your skin and you start to feel like King Canute trying to hold back the tide. Now I am in my forties I am always looking for ways to keep my skin looking youthful. Luckily I do not have many wrinkles yet which I put down to a good skin care regime since my teens. I always make the time to cleanse and moisturise my skin. I do have some fine lines appearing and when I was asked if I wanted to try Jivesse Marine Collagen Cream I was happy to.
JivesseJivesse Marine Collagen cream has the bold claim that it contains the science of youth. It is an anti-aging and hydrating cream that acts to rejuvenate your skin and increase the production of collagen. Collagen is vital for skin elasticity and is found naturally in  skin.  As well as marine collagen the Jivesse cream contains an essential herb elixir which acts to boost your skins renewal making it appear fresher and clearer and help to reduce acne scars. Using the cream regularly should result in the skin appearing firmer and more youthful, with visible wrinkles being reduced. I was looking forward to seeing how well it worked. I have previously tried Qsilica Pro Collagen which is a food supplement so I was aware collagen worked well with my skin. I wanted to see if using it in a cream format would make any difference.

JivesseThe first thing I noticed about the product was the gorgeous packaging. The white box with its simple logo and band of blue looks stylish and elegant. The pot inside is a lovely green blue colour which reminds me of the sea The gold  lid adds a luxury feel. I would be happy to have this on display in my bathroom or dressing table.

JivesseOn opening the lid I was expecting to see the cream but the jar uses a unique design which prevents the cream coming in contact with the air. This protects the cream from exposure to light and contamination which makes the active ingredients in the cream last longer. To get the cream out of the jar you press down on the plastic and a pump action will release a little bit of the cream. It is only a little bit as well and this is ideal for making sure you do not use too much. Indeed you only need to use a little to make your skin feel pampered.

JivesseWhen I first used the cream I was struck by the smell. It is a lovely smell that reminded me of a sea breeze on a summers day. It made the cream a pleasure to use and the smell lingered on my skin for a while after use. The cream is absorbed quickly and left my skin feeling velvety soft afterwards. My skin did not feel at all sticky after using the cream and my skin felt soft all day. After a week of use I can see and feel the difference in my skin, it is definitely looking more youthful. I always wondered if it was worth paying more for a moisturising cream, thinking they were much of a muchness. This cream has impressed me and it is worth paying more for. I expect that the pot will last a while as I have not needed to use much cream daily to make my skin feel soft.

I was sent the cream in return for an honest review, my opinions are my own.

Looking outside today you could almost think that Spring was here. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. With the onset of warmer weather it is time to start thinking about stepping up the beauty routine. Legs that have been hidden in trousers all winter can now go on show in pretty skirts. It is essential to spend some time preening before stepping outside with bare legs. Whilst shaving is convenient, I find it leads to quick regrowth and sometimes I manage to cut myself. Waxing just strikes me as time consuming and I hate the smell of hair removal cream. I have always wondered about epilation, the results are meant to last longer. I was really excited to try the Braun Silk-Épil 7 Skin Spa Epilator.

Braun silk epilThe Braun Silk-Épil 7 Skin Spa  is more than just an epilator, it also has an exfoliation head to keep skin super soft. There is also a shaver attachment. More importantly the Braun Silk-Épil 7 can be used wet and dry, so you can use it in the bath or shower if you wish.

Braun silk epilEpilation

The epilation head contains around 40 mini tweezer that act to pull out the hair from the surface of the skin leaving it hair free. You just need to move the device over your skin and the hair is removed. There is a handy guide light which acts to show you which parts you have done and what you have missed. You can also choose from two different speeds to suit your skin sensitivity. The epilator will remove hair as large as a grain of sand, so you don’t need to wait for the hair to grow and results will last up to four weeks. Over time your hair will grow back smoother and finer so you will need to use the device less often.

Braun silk epilHaving not used an epilator before I was not sure what to expect but the process was relatively painful. Occasionally I could feel a slight tug but it was just like using a shaver. The documentation warned that you could experience some redness after use, but I had no problems. I think it just depends on how sensitive your skin is.

Exfoliation

The Bruan Silk Epil also provides a body exfoliation system to keep your skin soft. Having recently been trailing the Braun Face Beauty Edition and seeing how well this worked it was nice to see the same attachment for the body. The head contains 10,00 fine bristles that gently sweep away dead skin cells and help to stimulate skin regeneration. As well as keeping your skin soft it also helps to prevent ingrowing hairs.

Braun silk epilIt is really nice to use this attachment after epliation and finishing the process off with some moisturiser will ensure super smooth legs for the summer.

Shaver Attachment

The Braun Silk Epil also has a shaver attachment with different caps that allow you to use the razor on different areas of the body. The heads clip on and off easily allowing you to pick the right tool for the job.

Razor attachmentThe tool needs to be charged before use, the power cable has a two pin plug so you will need an adaptor. Once it has been charged it should provided forty minutes running time. This is plenty of time to carry out a full expilation treatment. The device also comes with a pouch, allowing you to keep all the attachments together.

The Braun Silk epil is quite pricey at £169.99 but when you consider  that is also acts as a razor and exfoliation device it does seem more reasonable. The system does work really well and I will not be moving back to shaving again. The tool is really easy to use and fits easily into my beauty routine. I can be confident that I will have super soft legs this summer than I can bare with confidence.

I was sent the device to try in return for an honest review.
