Stuck for a Father’s Day gift? Why not put a smile on your dad’s face and celebrate Father’s Day with Hotel Chocolat?

Did you know Father’s Day is nearly here? It normally falls on the third Sunday of June and this year it’s June 18th. Father’s Day is a day to celebrate the impact that fathers have on our everyday lives. It is easy to forget how much our dad’s do for us. From acting as a taxi driver, doing DIY and offering advice, fathers are an important part of our lives. I know my dad will always be there if I need him and my son knows the same about his dad. Father’s Day is a chance to say thank you for being my dad.

One of the main problems with men is it is hard to know what they want. They are bad at dropping hints for things they like. There are only so many pairs of socks you can get as a present. Fortunately Hotel Chocolat have come to the rescue with their selection of chocolates for Father’s Day.

Father’s Day with Hotel Chocolat

Fathers Day Sleekster from Hotel Chocolat

I am a big fan of Hotel Chocolat products. The gorgeous packaging screams luxury and you know before you open the box you are holding something special. Opening the box does not disappoint either, Hotel Chocolat do a great selection of different chocolate recipes. There are choices for milk, dark and white chocolate lovers. I was lucky enough to get a box of Hotel Chocolat for Mother’s Day.

Fortunately Hotel Chocolat also have  a great selection of Father’s Day gifts.  These are sure to put a smile on the face of your Dad. From pocket money prices to the more expensive boxes there is a gift to suit every father. As well as chocolate you can even get Cocoa Beer, an ale with overtones of chocolate. This can be bought separately or as part of a chocolate hamper. I think this is a really unusual idea.

The Father’s Day Sleekster

Hotel Chocolat Father's Day Sleekster

This year my son is treating his dad to the Father’s Day Sleekster from Hotel Chocolat. This gorgeous blue box contains 27 of the finest recipes from Hotel Chocolat. There is a selection of milk, white, caramel and dark chocolates with fruity, boozy and dessert style chocolates. It will be a lovely surprise for my husband and I know he will love them. The only problem he will have is deciding which chocolate to eat first.

Father's Day Sleekster from Hotel Chocolat

Some of these chocolates are almost too pretty to eat. The peanut praline and the eton mess in particular are like mini works of art. Pretty as they are I am sure they will not last long. The box makes it clear the chocolates are his as well, with Happy Father’s Day written across it.

An Imagise personalised clock takes one of your own photographs and turns it into a clock. It is a great way to display your photo memories.

Do you have hard disc drives and CDs that are full of photos? This is one of the problems of the digital age. It is so easy to take lots of photos. It is not so easy to view them.  In the days of film photos always got printed and displayed. Now they sit on computers and are not so easy to view.

Fortunately there are plenty of companies out there who can help and Imagise is one of them. They take your photos and turn them into personalised gifts or phone and tablet cases. The range of gifts include your photos on slates, jigsaws, mouse mats and clocks. These would make a nice surprise and a special gift for anyone.

Imagise Personalised Clock

Recently I had the chance to create my own personalised clock from Imagise. I chose a photo of my dog, Eddie and me which was taken when we were on holiday at Wemys Bay. I was holding Eddie as we went on the ferry across to the Isle of Bute. Usually I take most of the photographs so it is rare to find one of me. The final product looks great.

Creating your personalised clock

It is easy to create your personalised clock on the Imagise website. First you need to chose clock under the personalised gifts section. When you click the create my design button it brings up the designer. This allows you to upload your photo, add text and the clock face.

How to create an Imagise personalised clock

The designer is really easy to use.  The basic clock face appears on the right and you use the tools on the left to add things to the clock. The upload button allows you to add your photo to the clock face. Once you have done this you can add other things to your design. The background button alters the background colour. Text allows you to add text. Finally you can chose a clock face under the Elements > Shapes menu. You can add different styles of numerals and face designs. When you are happy with your design you can save it and add it to your cart. Imagise then print your clock and ship it to you. Delivery was actually quite fast.

Creating imagise personalised clock

What did I think of my clock?

The clock arrives in a cardboard case which gave it some protection. It was easy to remove from the packaging. After taking out the clock I found it was made of glass. If I had read the information on the website properly I would have known this. The glass gives the clock a great finish and the printing on the photo is good quality.

Imagise personalised clock

The clock takes one AA battery which you will have to supply. It fits in the mechanism at the back of the clock. Once the battery is in the clock runs silently. There is no loud ticking noise. This is a bonus as I can often hear the ticking of clocks at night and it keeps me awake.  The clock can be easily hung on the wall with a picture hook.

Imagise personalised clock

I am really happy with my personalised clock and suspect I may be giving one of these as a gift at some point.

Why not gift a Hotel Chocolat Happy Easter Hamper this Easter and make someone happy?

It is nearly Easter.  Traditionally Easter is a religious celebration. These days we usually celebrate with a family Sunday dinner and a glut of chocolate.  Easter eggs are a symbol of Easter, they celebrate new life. My son usually gets a couple of eggs for Easter. When he was younger we would hide a trail of little eggs around the house and garden. We told him the Easter bunny had left the eggs overnight and he would have great fun in the morning hunting them out.

In the afternoon we usually sit down for a roast dinner. This will be roast lamb or beef with all the trimmings. We do not usually have a pudding but instead have hot cross buns and simnel cake with a cup of tea around four.  The family uses these special occasions as a chance to get together so we always have a full table. The long weekend makes people more relaxed and happy to chat and catch up. Usually, the weather is warm so we can even sit out in the garden and enjoy a little sunshine.

Hotel Chocolat Happy Easter Hamper

It is traditional to have chocolate at Easter. The shops are full of different styles of chocolate eggs, bunnies and chicks.  This year, thanks to Hotel Chocolat, I have a Hotel Chocolat Happy Easter hamper. If you read my blog regularly you will know I am a big fan of Hotel Chocolat. Their quirky chocolates always bring a smile to my face and they taste amazing. When I see the Hotel Chocolatt packaging I know I am in for a treat. When I see the Hotel Chocolat packaging I know I am in for a treat. They take such care making the boxes look nice. The little touches like a ribbon and a gift card make you think the chocolates will be special.

Hotel Chocolat Happy Easter Hamper

In the past, I have tried their You Crack Me Up Easter egg which is gorgeous. The shell of the Easter egg is really thick chocolate making it fun to break up. The sweets inside will put a smile on your face with their unusual design. This year I thought the Happy Easter hamper would be great for sharing with the family. That is if it lasts until Easter.

Inside the Hotel Chocolat Easter Hamper

The Hotel Chocolat Happy Easter hamper (RRP £35) contains a selection of chocolates. From bunnies to eggs to chocolate slabs there is something for everyone.

The first thing that caught my eye was the Caught on the Hop Slab.  The big cheerful bunny in white chocolate and the orange carrots makes it a real eye-catcher.  It is almost a shame to snap the bunny up into pieces to eat but the taste is well worth it.  A bag of salted caramel puddles are perfect for sharing and would also make great decorations on a cake if you can spare them.

Hotel Chocolat Happy Easter Hamper

The other selections in the box are more traditional Easter themed. There are City Bunnies which are full of molten caramel and look ready to hop off into the distance.  For the egg lover the Egglet H box will fill the bill. They have a selection of luxurious filling including the odd tipple.  The box of Egg & Soliders will make anyone smile. Truffle eggs and praline toast slices is a reminder of childhood breakfasts. The Hotel Chocolat Easter Hamper would make a great gift for someone special this Easter.

Choose from a range of luxury mother’s day gifts from Amara and show your mum how much she means to you.

How often do you tell your mum what she means to you? Mother’s day is the perfect chance to show your appreciation for all the things your mum does for you. You may not often think about how hard your mum works. If you live at home she probably makes the meals, washes the clothes and keeps the house clean. This is usually done in a way that looks effortless and you may not realise how much work it involves. If you have your own home you know mum will always be there for you. As a mum myself I love getting something on Mother’s Day. It doesn’t even have to be something big. When my son was little he made home made cards for me at school. I still treasure these today.

If you are looking to get your mum something really special why not have a look at the range of luxury Mother’s Day gifts from Amara. They have a wide range of gifts that would appeal to any mum. From scented candles, to scarves and jewellery you will definitely find something to make your mum feel special.

Luxury Mother’s Day Gifts From Amara

Amara have the motto “Life. Syle. Living” and have a wide selection of products from the home as well as gorgeous gift ideas.  I had a look though the site and found a number of items that I know my mum would really love. These are my picks.

Luxury mother's day gifts from Amara

  1. Ted Baker Belvase Crystal Blossom Brooch £49
  2. Joules Harmony Woven Scarf – Rose Pink Beau Floral £30
  3. Blommingville “Nothing is..” Storage Bag £67
  4. Orla Kiely Tortoiseshell Bee Brooch £85

I have two brooches in the selection as my mum often wears a brooch. Both the Ted Baker brooch and the Orla Keily brooch are perfect for this time of year. Now it is March Spring is starting to make itself felt. The sun is coming out and the trees are bursting into bloom. Either of these brooches would add a splash of Spring to an outfit whilst looking classy. The same can be said for the Joules Harmony Woven Scarf. The mix of pinks is reminiscent of the blossom on the trees and it would brighten up any outfit. I had to add the Bloomingville “Nothing is” Storage bag as it really brought a smile to my face. I know that my mum would think exactly the same way. The saying on it is so true.

Joules Everyday Canvas Tote Bag in Grey Beau Bloom

After browsing the website for quite a while I finally chose this Joule Everyday Tote Bag in Grey Beau Bloom (£55). I know my mum needs a new bag and this is a lovely cheery bag that will look great with a number of outfits. I love the floral design on the outside and the bright pink lining. It is another item that is perfect for the spring. The floral design will also add a splash of colour in the winter.  I like the fact that it can be carried over the shoulder or in your hands as well. This makes it much more versatile.

Even better the handbag has a range of different pockets. There is a zip up pocket on the outside as well as couple of pockets on the inside. I know my mum likes to keep her keys and other valuables zipped up inside her bag so they don’t get lost. She will be very happy with this. The bag is also nice and roomy allowing her to fit all her junk stuff inside.  The bag zips up securely so nothing will fall out as she carries it. I know that she is going to be delighted when she gets this as a gift on Mother’s Day. I may also make her something special like these Strawberry and Lemon Munchkins as a sweet treat.

Being a mum is a wonderful and difficult job which comes with many moments that you treasure.

Mother’s Day is fast approaching. Take advantage of the day and let your mum know how much she means to you. When my son was little he would come home from school with a hand made card. These cards always put a smile on my face and I still treasure these cards today. For a mum watching your child grow up and learn new skills is amazing. The process creates many memories and family moments to look back on and treasure. Some of these become family sayings and others are fond memories to look back on. Either way they become part of a living family history.

One of our family sayings was born when we first got our dog, Eddie. My son looked at Eddie and said, as if he was making a significant announcement, “Eddie, you’re a dog!” Our dog is now told this on a regular basis. Every family has sayings like this that come from these moments. These mum moments make parenthood special.

Mum Moments with Hotel Chocolat

I have many Mum Moments that I can look back on which make me smile. Mum Moments are moments when your child makes you feel so proud or you feel like a superhero for solving a problem. One of the moments that sticks in my mind most was the day my son got his new bed. He was ready to move out of his cot into a “big boy bed”. I came home from work just as it was delivered.  My son was desperate to try it out and wanted it up in his room straight away. The only problem was the bed was flat pack. It was one of those cabin beds a bit like a bunk bed but with a play area underneath.

After dinner, my son insisted I put his bed together. He was really so excited about it. I was on my own as my husband was at a conference that evening and wouldn’t be back till later. Being brave I got out the screwdriver and gave it a try. If you have ever tried to put together a flat pack you will know that the instructions are never easy to follow. The diagrams never seem to relate to any of the pieces in the packet. After a couple of hours I was struggling but trying to persuade my son to go to bed was next to impossible. Finally four hours later the bed was together and my son went up the ladder and was asleep in seconds. Although I was tired I was happy that I had managed to build the bed and get it into the room. It was a real mum moment. Being a mum can be hard work but these moments make it all worth while.

Share your #MumMoments and win a Hotel Chocolat Mothers Day Box

If you read my blog regularly you will know I am a great lover of Hotel Chocolat. Their luxury chocolates are always a treat. The packaging is always gorgeous promising a lovely surprise within. The chocolates themselves look beautiful and they have a great range of flavours to suit every taste. The chocolates have a quirky and unique style which never fail to make me smile. Any mum would be glad to receive a box of Hotel Chocolat chocolate for Mother’s Day.

Recently Hotel Chocolat sent me their Mother’s Day Sleekster selection (RP £22.50)  which is a gorgeous box containing 22 of Hotel Chocolat’s best-loved chocolates. Beautifully presented in a joyful yellow box this is a selection to delight any mum. My favourite is the Eton Mess but the selection has something for everyone. Inside the box are champagne truffles,  carrot cake, billionaires shortbread and many more. It really is hard to just eat one and even harder to share.
