I had great plans to get exercising last week but was stopped in my tracks because I caught a cold. It was one of those colds that make you feel sorry for yourself and leave you with a bright red nose. The sort where instead of doing things you comfort eat. Biscuits, chocolate, desserts, soups, anything that looks comforting and warming. As well as making me feel awful it also made my asthma really bad so I just was not able to go running.
I have been lucky because my asthma has been quite mild in recent years, I had forgotten just how horrible it is to be short of breath and having to reach for your inhaler all the time. There is nothing worse than feeling you can’t get enough air in your lungs. I did manage to walk the dog though, in fact I don’t think he would let me not walk him. He loves his walks and jumps all over me madly if I even show a sign of putting a coat on.
Inevitably I gained a little weight but the good news is that spring is on the way. When I take the dog out in the morning and at night it is light which really makes a difference. It is great not having to walk carefully along the path as you can’t see where you are going. This week I am determined. I have got the low fat yoghurt and the salads and hopefully will be able to get out. I am not going to put all the weight back on again.
