My living room desperately needs a makeover. These are some pictures I took of it last night.

It really needs brightening up and a more modern feel, it is just something that I have never got round to doing. There just always seems to be other things that get in the way. I have some ideas for a living room makeover and if I had the money and the time this is what I would love to do.

Firstly that fireplace has got to go. The gas fire looks really out of date and the brick work surrounding it makes the room look dull. Ideally I would love a white fireplace with plenty of space for ornaments on top. Something like this one would be perfect. It would set the room off and lighten it up.

I would love to get some lightness into the walls and I think that creams and blues would work really well. I love the blues in this living room.  I think I would do blue at the bottom of the wall and cream at the top above the dado rail.
I would love to open up the bay window with some light curtains and make a secret place for sitting reading a book with a few cushions.
There is plenty of space to sit on the window but at the moment the curtains are very dated and dreary.

Finally I would like to brighten up the corner by the stairs. It needs white paint to lighten it up. The radiator needs a cover to hide it as it is looking a little battered.

I also love the wooden flooring in these pictures and decided that it would need a rug just to finish off the look. I love this union jack rug it looks elegant.
