Recently I was talking to Chicken Tonight on twitter, which always makes me burst into song. You all know the song, it goes “I feel like chicken tonight!”. Have I got you singing it as well?
In case you didn’t know Chicken Tonight make a range of sauces which make it easy for you to create great chicken dishes easily. From our twitter conversation I learnt that the range has recently changed and is now new and improved with better flavour. I was interested to hear this and Chicken Tonight very kindly sent me a lovely hamper filled with their sauces to try. As well as Chicken Tonight sauces there was a range of Ragu sauces which I will talk about in a different post.
This is the hamper, isn’t it lovely?
The first thing that struck my eye was the range of Chicken Tonight Simply Bag and Bake Sauces. I love this kind of sauce as they are so easy to do, stick the meat and vegetables in a bag, sprinkle in the sauce and bung in the oven. Once it comes out of the oven you have a tasty meal and do not have to wash the casserole dish. I didn’t realise Chicken Tonight had a range of Bag and Bake Sauces so I wanted to give these a try.
There are a number of different sauces in the Chicken Tonight Simply Bag and Bake Sauce range so I was spoiled for choice. There is New York BBQ Chicken, British Casserole, French Chicken, Spanish Chicken and Italian Chicken. Luckily I had some chicken in the fridge so I could try it straight away. I let my husband decide which to try first and he decided on the New York BBQ Chicken variety.
As you can see from the picture you really need sweetcorn cobs but I didn’t have any so I just used a tin of sweetcorn instead. I threw everything into the bag.
I gave the sauce a shake when the bag was closed just to distribute it evenly over all the chicken. I then placed it in the oven and left it to cook. A lovely smell wafted round the house making me hungry. Finally it was time to take it out of the oven and I poured it into the casserole dish so you could see the finished result.
I have to say that it was delicious. The sauce had a lovely smoky BBQ flavour with a hint of paprika lurking in the background. It was a big hit with the family and all our plates were empty at the end of the meal. I would definitely make this again but use the corn cobs instead to see how this turned out. It was really easy to make as well which is always a bonus.
A few days later I decided to try another Chicken Tonight Simply Bag and Bake Sauce and this time I tried the Spanish Chicken. I did not have any chicken in the fridge this time so I decided to be a rebel and try it with pork. This is the finished result.

It proved the point that Chicken Tonight can be used with other meats as well, it tasted gorgeous. I think there must be paprika in it as it had that sort of kick. Definitely a meal to spice up an evening. Again the whole family loved this dish.
I am looking forward to trying out the rest of the range and will be looking out for these in the shops.
You can find out more about the Chicken Tonight range on their website and should be able to find the sauces in most supermarkets.
Disclosure: I was sent the sauces to try out and see what I thought but I was not told what to write and my opinions are my own.
