Good Natured Salad

Good Natured SaladI love salad but I do worry about pesticides being used on them. I was pleased to learn about Good Natured Salad, a range of salads that is grown without the use of pesticides. In order to control pests Good Natured use natural predators to control them. For example ladybirds eat greenfly so if there was a greenfly problem ladybirds would keep them in check without harming the plant. The range is called Good Natured because it is grown in tune with mother nature.

There are a number of different products in the Good Natured Salad range. You will find Tantalising Tomatoes, Cool Cucumbers, Perfect Peppers and Awesome Aubergines. I tried the tomatoes and cucumbers.

I always eat loads of tomatoes, they go with everything. I like to try and grow my own tomatoes as nothing beats the taste of a tomato straight from the garden. I failed miserably this year due to the weather. These tomatoes are very close in taste to home grown ones. You could really taste the tomato flavour, they were lovely and tasty. One great thing about tomatoes is that they are full of the antioxidant lycopene which apparently helps to protect your skin from the sun.

I love to make tomato salad, thinly slice some tomatoes, sprinkle over some chives or small slices of red onion and pour on vinaigrette dressing. This makes a delightful accompaniment to a meal.

The Good Natured Cucumbers were also delicious, they had flavour and were not soggy in the way some cucumbers can be. You could use them in a lovely Greek salad, chop them up with feta, tomatoes and olives and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Cucumbers have few calories and also contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties so they are also good for you. They can also be used on tired eyes to help to sooth them, just cut a couple of slices and rest them on your eyes for a few minutes.

I didn’t try the Good Natured Aubergines or Peppers but I am sure they are as flavoursome as the tomatoes and cucumbers. I was really pleased with this salad range and will be looking out for it from now on. You will find Good Natured Salad in Asda stores nationwide.

Disclosure: I was sent a voucher to buy some Good Natured Salad to try but was not told what to write and my opinions are my own.
