Today, nearly two years ago, I sat down and started a blog. I am still not entirely sure why I started a blog, I think I got persuaded by a number of people that it would be a good idea. I am always happy to give new things a try and so I went onto wordpress.com and started one. My first post was not “Hello World, Here is my blog!”, it was a book review. Very few people knew about my blog, it was not open to search engines and was only viewable by people who knew about it.
What a contrast to today. Now my blog is visible and people actually come and read it, a fact that always astonishes me. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who reads my blog. I never thought I would still be writing this after two years, never mind being self hosted, so I am very pleased to still be here. Do help yourself to some cake!
I am not marking my blog birthday with a big competition or anything exciting. I am using the opportunity to think a little bit about where I am going with my blog. I currently do lots of reviews but want to start doing more of other things as well. I wanted to take the opportunity to ask you, my readers, what you enjoy reading on my blog. What would you like to see more of and what bores you? Please do take the opportunity to let me know, I would really love some feedback.
Congratulations on your blog second birthday (a bit delayed sorry about that!).
As for what you should do to develop your blog – my opinion is that blogging is a hobby and so you should write about things that interest you. Whenever you write, whether it be a review or another kind of post, write from your heart. Readers will come because they like the way you talk about things.
All the best for another year of blogging x
