Carved Angel Condiments

Carved AngelThe Carved Angel is not a range that I have heard of before but when I was asked if I wanted to do a review of their products I had to find out more. Looking on The Carved Angel website I found they have a gorgeous range of products and condiments. These include chutneys, pickles, preserves. There is also a gold range of fruit sauces, preserves and chocolate spreads as well as Christmas puddings. All the range is suitable for vegetarians.

As it is supposed to be the picnic and barbecue weather I decided to try a mustard and a pickle. Browsing on the website my eye was caught by the Flame Piquant Pepper Jam with Chilli which sounded interesting. I also liked the sound of the Feisty Cider and Horseradish Mustard, I love both mustard and horseradish but have never tried them together. Finally I chose the Melt All Lemon Curd.

 Feisty Cider and Horseradish Mustard

Carved Angel Fiesty Cider and Horseradish MustardI was really wondering what the combination of mustard and horseradish would be like, I often use horseradish on sandwiches to add a bit of zing. Sometimes it can be very fiery and I was wondering if this would be just too strong.

Carved Angel Feisty Cider and Horseradish MustardLooking inside the pot it is a nice coloured mustard with whole grains which I like. I tried this out on a ham salad sandwich and I have to say it was really nice. It is not an ultra hot mustard, instead it just adds a lovely taste to the sandwich. It provided that little bit of zing I wanted without being overpowering. You can taste hints of cider and horseradish but they just act to set off the mustard and it is a nice combination. This would also work really well in mashed potato to add a little bit of flavour. RRP £3.95

Flame Piquant Pepper Jam with Chilli

Carved Angel Flame Piquant Pepper Jam with Chilli

I must admit I picked this as I really wondered what pepper and chilli jam would taste like. I have heard of fruit jams but this was an entirely new combination for me.Opening the lid you can clearly see the chilli seeds in the jam.

Carved Angel Piquant Pepper and Chilli JamI was expecting something really hot in taste but this was actually more like cranberry jelly in texture with a little kick of pepper and chilli. It was really tasty and I think this would work really well with roast gammon as a glaze. My son actually really like this one with cheese sandwiches and it definitely adds a lovely flavour.  RRP £3.95

Melt All Butter Lemon Curd

Carved Angel Melt All Lemon CurdStrangely I had recently been having a conversation with my son about Lemon Curd. He had never heard of it and I was trying to explain to him what it was. The best I could come up with was it is like lemon jam. I thought I would try this and had visions of doing a lovely summery pudding using it. It is really lemony in colour and has a lovely enticing smell.

Carved Angel Melt All Butter Lemon CurdNow I have to say this is lemon curd to die for. It is really lemony and buttery in taste and texture and once you have some you want more. I tried this with ice cream which was delicious but it also works really well on toast.  I still have to try that imaginative summer dessert I was planning and am hoping the jar lasts long enough. My son was really impressed with this lemon curd and asked me why I had never got it before. It really is a treat. RRP £3.95

I really enjoyed these condiments from Carved Angel and it is definitely worth a look on their website as they have a wide and varied range and there will definitely be something to appeal to you. These products would also make really nice gifts, I know I would be pleased to receive them.

Disclosure: I was sent the products to try and review but was not told what to write and the opinions are all my own.
