Rice Krispies are replacing the regular front of their Rice Krispies box with a special colour in version to help keep your child entertained over the summer. This gives children the opportunity to have a special personalised breakfast in the mornings as well as having fun colouring in. Britmums were kind enough to send though a box of these special Rice Krispies and a box of colouring pens for my son to allow him to get creative.
He pounced on it and was very impressed with the pens, felt tips, pencils, glitter, he couldn’t wait to get started. Silence fell as he went about his work. He took his time and did it slowly. Then he noticed that some of the pens were scented. This was a source of great amazement and he kept using the pens to colour in and coming rushing though asking us to guess what the smell was. He is autistic and one of the features of his autism is that he has a highly developed sense of smell. He can often smell things that we do not notice, a regular human bloodhound. The scented pens were a real reward for him and his final picture is a tour in scent as well as a work of art.
Here is his final art work, the colours have not come out that well in the photo.
You can’t quite see the silver glittery eyes that crackle has which I thought was a lovely touch. Here is he proudly displaying his art work
Do have a look for the packs in the shops, my son really enjoyed this challenge. You can also find lots more colouring fun on the Rice Krispies website: http://www.kelloggs.co.uk/whatson/ricekrispies/colourtogether/colourtogether.htm

Scented pens are the best aren’t they? Except that you end up with dots on your nose a lot! Lovely finished product!
