Rituals white lotus and green tea shower gel.

I was lucky enough to win some Rituals white lotus and green tea shower gel recently from the lovely Rituals people on twitter  http://twitter.com/Rituals. They sent it to me all the way from Amsterdam.  I have not tried Rituals products before, although I have been meaning to for some time, and I must say I was very impressed.

The product comes in a lovely green bottle with a pump top action which makes it very easy to get a small amount out of the top. It also has the added benefit that if you drop it in the shower loads does not escape everywhere!

I wasn’t sure what white lotus and green tea would smell like, but its a lovely smell. Very invigorating and will definitely make you feel good about yourself. The best bit about this product though is that you squirt a little tiny bit onto your hand, use it and suddenly you find that you are covered with masses of lovely foaming bubbles. A little bit really does go a very long way. Its fabulous stuff and I love it. My skin felt lovely after using it as well.  I will definitely be rushing off to see what other Rituals products are out there to try next!

The Bricklayer by Noah Boyd

A bank, a meticulously planned hold up. They think they will get away with it but they have not counted on the Bricklayer. Before they know it they are tumbling out of windows wondering what hit them. The FBI have a problem, their operatives are being killed. They are being held to ransom, more people will die unless they pay out. They have already lost a million dollars and face losing more. Could it be an inside job? Who can they turn to for help?

Steve Vail, former FBI agent, now working as a Bricklayer, is approached by Kate Bannon, deputy assistant director. A maverick, who does not like authority, but is great at the job. Can he unravel the mess and find out who is killing the agents before it is too late?

A great book, with loads of unexpected twists and turns. Just when we think the case has been solved a subtle twist develops that leads the reader in a new direction. The characters are developed well and there is interesting chemistry between the two main characters. A third female character, district attorney Tye Delson, who is helping them with the case, adds to the mix introducing subtle edginess between the main characters.

From an explosive start the action does not let up and the ending is totally unexpected. An enjoyable book, well worth a read.

Forbidden Pleasures by Jo Rees

Set in the international world of gambling and casinos, where success is measured in the roll of a dice and the turn of a card, two women meet.
Savannah Hudson,  daughter of Michael Hud Hudson III, self made casino mogul, spoilt defiant rich girl who has it all.
Lois Chan, ambitious ex cop who has worked hard to get to run the business of Michael’s greatest rival.

Fight night in the Enzo Vegas. A big night for Lois, she needs to make sure everything goes well. The crowds are big, Jai Shihai, a high roller who must be kept happy and Fernandez, a visiting senator are all keeping Lois on her toes. Savannah is attending, determined to have fun and to annoy her father by missing an important family gathering. The night will prove pivotal for them both. An assassination attempt is made on the senator and in the wake of this everything will change forever.

Each has a different path to walk, each on the road to recovery in different ways. Lois has physical scars to overcome, Savannah has to overcome mental anguish which has led her on the path to self destruction. Do they have the inner strength to get past their wounds or will the world of gambling corrupt them forever.

This is a fabulous book, just what you need to read while on holiday. The twists and turns keep you guessing until the end and you get really involved with the characters, willing them on to success. A really good read.
